So I decided to try my hand at some gijinka work, since I've never really done it before. My Emerald team was such a nice and diverse set of characters that I had to work on them first! Of course for those who'd like, I've prepared bios for my team of misfits.
Name: Marilyn (F) (Gardevoir)
Dossier: Marilyn started off as a rather testy Ralts, haughty and constantly caught up in herself. She was orphaned at an early age and was left to fend for herself in the wild. She, however, lived soundly due to her psychic strengths overwhelming her enemies, along with being able to teleport away from danger. This though was far from being an exciting life for her. Enamored with the thought of fame and acting, she sought leaving the wild as soon as possible. When Phoenix told her about his journey across Hoenn, she was more than happy to join him. Now, being a Gardevoir has boosted her ego even more along with making her more testy, as the perilous journey is far from being a luxury tour. She detests her team along with their journey to stop Team Magma and Team Aqua, but that doesn't mean she doesn't care for her team every now and then. She can tolerate Phoenix to some degree, maybe feeling a bit of romance could be sparking as well. Phoenix remains oblivious to this.
Name: Phoenix (M) (Blaziken)
Dossier: Phoenix grew up in a giant family full of fighting nutcases, or extreme martial artists to put in simpler terms. He was trained all his life to be a fighter, challenging any opponent in order to become stronger. One day he faced a friend of his and accidentally paralyzed him due to his aggressive carelessness. Phoenix fully regretted it, turning away from his family and changing his lifestyle completely to hide his shame. He became a humble nomad of sorts, forcing himself to pacify away from physical attacks and using only special attacks when absolutely needed. His family was disgusted, and shunned him away due to his drastic change. Phoenix decided that in order to atone he'd embark on a 'spiritual' walk across the Hoenn region, making peace and righting wrongs wherever he went. When the actions of Team Magma and Team Aqua arose, he realized that a team was needed to stop their heinous acts. He shares a close relationship with Marilyn, often being the only one keeping her in check and calming her haughty nature.
Name: Sancho (M) (Ludicolo)
Ability: Swift Swim
Dossier: Sancho was always a cheery and carefree guy, letting the winds of change tell him where to go. He's an avid lute player, singing ballads along with songs to cheer the team up whenever things go awry. He joined Phoenix on his journey through Hoenn after Phoenix saved his from falling off of a cliff. From then on, Sancho forever pledged his allegiance to Phoenix and the team, thinking a debt must be repaid through his service. Most of the team enjoy his presence, as he always manages to bring a smile on someone's face, save for Marilyn. He's head over heels for Marilyn, however, singing and playing on his little lute for her whenever he has the chance. It never ends well, sadly, for our jolly bard.
Name: Athena (F) (Breloom)
Ability: Effect Spore
Dossier: Despite being the youngest of the group, she can hold her own against most of her comrades and any opponent she faces. A hardened wilderness scout, she has knowledge of most of the rough and dangerous terrain that the Hoenn region can offer. She seasoned herself to combat anything mother nature can throw at her, often leading the team out of danger from rock slides and terrible storms. She joined Phoenix in order to put a stop to Team Magma and Team Aqua's efforts to change the land, as she fervently believes it isn't man's job to tamper with nature. Phoenix treats her like his daughter, much to her chagrin, as he relates her fiery nature to his past. She loves training in the woods and hearing Sancho play his lute.
Name: Wayne (M) (Crobat)
Ability: Inner Focus
Dossier: Wayne lived a tough life in Granite Cave, spending his days helping his family fend off enemies that threaten them such as Aron's and Makuhita's. He found peace in this, however, as protecting his family always brought him joy. Wayne's life was shaken however when Team Aqua flooded the caves, separating him from his family and nearly drowning him. He confronted Team Aqua by himself and got pummeled to an inch of his life, obtaining a scar on his eye from a Mightyena. Phoenix found him on the sandy beaches of Route 106, tending to his wounds and patching him up. Wayne now seeks vengeance against Team Aqua for what they did to him and his home, forcing himself to team up with Phoenix to put a stop to their operations. Phoenix remains apprehensive to Wayne's presence though, as he can sense that Wayne's hatred could lead to his demise. He finds solace in Amelia and Sancho's presence, as their peaceful nature helps him forget Team Aqua's brutality.
Name: Amelia (F) (Flygon)
Dossier: Amelia's mantra was to always remain positive, no matter what situation you'd end up being thrown in. She always has a smile on her face from believing in this idea. However, her jolly demeanor wasn't well appreciated in the desert of Route 111, where other pokemon found her to be a nuisance and constantly bullied her for her cheery attitude. When a group of Sandshrew's tried to ambush her, Phoenix, along with the team, managed to saved her. She was grateful beyond measure and was happy to oblige to stop Team Magma and Team Aqua from executing their plans. She's the most engaged with everyone in the party, treating Phoenix and Marilyn as her father and mother, along with Sancho as her older brother. Athena and her became best friends as both of them shared a love for nature, and she also forged a relationship with Wayne. She serves as his comfort, and always makes an effort to make him smile, along with peeving him in the process at times.
